How Many Girl Rappers Can We Take?

Only one apparently. Akua Naru, the feminist rapper who visited Fordham LC tonight (and soon to be Rose Hill this Friday @ 8 pm) pointed out that there's only room for one female rapper, but that didn't always used to be so. Remember Queen Latifah? Lauryn Hill? Female rappers who write about real issues of economy and sexuality have lost favor to songs about "superman" and "applebottomjeans." When will we make room for ladies to take hold of the mic again? Rap resurrects with Akua Naru.

This is the Isis soundtrack.
